Global Office: Sync

Editions

Which one am I?

Same engine, three interfaces. What changes between them is how much the app has to ask you. An edition with nobody working for you never mentions certificates of insurance. An edition running one business never asks which business this is.

Global Office: Sync, for bookkeepers

You do the books for other people

Many clients, each with their own real chart of accounts pulled from their own books rather than a generic list. Your capacity is capped by the hours you spend per client, and this is the part of those hours that's pure handling.

  • Every client's real chart of accounts. A client with no chart can be given one of six that ship with it, each built on the lines their tax return is actually filed on and usable unchanged by an S corporation or partnership, then edited into the numbering you already use, account numbers included.
  • Neutral about the platform. One client on QuickBooks Online, the next on Xero, the next on FreshBooks. Global Office: Sync doesn't care and doesn't make you keep three habits.
  • One client can't be read from another. That rule is enforced by the server rather than by the screen.
  • It opens on the whole practice. With no client picked, a dashboard shows what needs attention across every client, a card per ledger saying whether the work is up or down on the period before, and every client in one table, with the Information Center open beside it.
  • Ask a client for documents with a link. The client opens it on their phone and adds photos or PDFs with no account, no password and nothing to install. Everything is read on arrival, and nothing goes into the books until you review it.
  • Donations and a Clients ledger, which the other editions don't have.
  • All six Business Centers for every client: Jobs, Spending, Earning, Mileage, Bills and Contact.
  • Put Global Office: Sync - Contractors Edition or Global Office: Sync - Solo Edition in your clients' hands so their paper arrives already sorted, and connect the two directly.

You run the business, and people work for you

It's built for a phone in a work truck. Photograph the receipt now and deal with it tonight. It's your business, so it never asks which business, and there's no chart of accounts to build anywhere.

  • Compliance and certificates of insurance. A contractor who hires subcontractors is the person who needs certificate expiry watched most, so it's in.
  • Quotes. Record what you quoted and it tells you when one has passed its expiry date.
  • Who needs a 1099. Sync knows the difference between a hardware store & a person you paid to work. It collects W-9s, and reads the 1099 family that comes back.
  • No chart of accounts, ever. The matching to your QuickBooks, Xero or FreshBooks accounts happens on its own when the record is sent over. You're never shown an account column and never asked to build a list.
  • It opens on your business, not on a ledger. Compliance, tax forms and account coverage across the top, a card per ledger, how ready your subcontractors are, and every job with what it brought in, what it cost and what was left.
  • Connect straight to your bookkeeper. Approved records cross over as copies with the document attached, and you decide how far back they can see.

Certificates: red is expired, amber is in force but made out to somebody else.
Global Office: Sync, Solo Edition

It's just you

Working musicians, drivers, photographers, trainers, and anybody else in business on their own. The same engine as Global Office: Sync - Contractors Edition, without the questions that only matter when somebody works for you.

  • Receipts, Income, Utilities, Mileage, Quotes and Tax Docs, plus the Audit Trail.
  • All six Centers. Jobs, Spending, Earning, Mileage, Bills and Contact. None of them are cut.
  • Tax Docs holds what arrives, the 1099s that come to you. There are no subcontractors, so nothing goes out.
  • No certificates of insurance, because there's nobody to hold one for.
  • No chart of accounts and no client switching, the same as Global Office: Sync - Contractors Edition.
  • The connection to your bookkeeper. If somebody does your books once a year, connect them and your approved records reach them as copies, with the document attached.
Global Office: Sync - Solo Edition on a desktop, open on the Mileage ledger for The Guitar Nerd: a rail with only Receipts, Income, Utilities, Mileage, Tax Docs, Quotes and the Audit Trail, then the Jobs Center and Account Coverage, 2,690.7 miles for the year, and a 26.5 mile trip to Donnelly's selected with its route drawn on a map beside the list
When standard mileage is used, every trip is valued at the IRS rate in force on the date it was driven.
